The function of a pneumatic valve positioner is to receive the output signal from the pneumatic controller and generate a pneumatic pressure signal that is proportional to the controller’s output, thereby controlling the pneumatic control valve.
Pneumatic valve positioners come in a wide variety of types; based on their operating principles, they can be classified into two main categories: displacement-balanced and force (torque)-balanced.
